So you must agree with corporal punishment? But pupils sometimes were sometimes caned or smacked for things that weren't really so bad, like being late for school etc. wouldn't you feel bad sending them to get the slipper then?

I would be surprised if a child was caned or slippered for being late for school.
And I doubt the Matron would be responsible for sending
someone to the Head for caning ,that would be someone elses decision.

I read that at some schools you got the slipper if you were late three times! A pupil could easily be late because he or she was walking their little sister to school or something, so it seems unfair. I guess that it would have been the form teachers decision to send you to be punished though!

At my school you could get sent for the slipper for talking after being told to stop. And I once got the slipper for forgetting my netball skirt!

Haha At my school if you forgot your netball skirt you had to do it in your knickers.
