ELEVENTH HOUR

19 January, 2006 by The_Boss

ITV1 on Thursday 19th January 2006 at 9:00pm to 10:30pm

Patrick Stewart stars in Eleventh Hour, a new series of investigative thrillers, set in the constantly shifting world of contemporary science.

The former Star Trek actor plays Professor Ian Hood, a Professor of Physics, now serving as Special Adviser to the government, tackling disasters caused by modern science. Hood is a roving trouble-shooter. His remit is to seek out or respond to any human crisis arising out of a current scientific endeavour.

His co-star, playing Hood’s Special Branch bodyguard Rachel Young, is Ashley Jensen, of Extras fame. Ashley recently won two British Comedy Awards (Best Actress and Best Newcomer) for her portrayal of Ricky Gervais' mate Maggie in the show.

Rachel accompanies Hood everywhere and takes care of all his executive needs with quiet, military efficiency. She was appointed early on when Hood received a death threat in the midst of a job, and now she works around the clock to protect him from his many adversaries.

In episode one, ‘Resurrection’, Professor Hood is on the trail of a sinister Italian scientist, who is attempting to be the first person to bring a cloned baby in to the world.

Hood is alerted to the grim discovery of a field filled with the bodies of foetuses – all of whom share the same DNA. He thinks it is the work of the mysterious Gepetto (Jane Lapotaire). Assisted by his Special Branch bodyguard, Rachel Young, Professor Hood sets out to try and bring an end to Gepetto’s grisly work.

When evidence emerges that another young and desperate surrogate mother has been misled and that her life is at risk, Hood embarks on an urgent mission to save her life.
