PHILLIP SCHOFIELD’S NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

23 December, 2006 by The_Boss

ITV1 Sunday 24th December 2006 6:00pm to 7:00pm

It’s the night before Christmas, and Phillip Schofield is about to deliver a host of seasonal surprises on some of Britain’s most deserving, but least suspecting members of the public in ITV1’s PHILLIP SCHOFIELD’S NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

In this one-off special, Phillip, along with a host of his celebrity helpers will be spreading Christmas goodwill and making dreams come true in a show which promises some heart-warming surprises.

Share in the season of goodwill as the viewers’ favourite X Factor judge, Sharon Osbourne, lends her support to throw the Christmas party of the year - transforming one of London’s specialist children’s hospitals into a truly magical entertainment venue. With the stage now set, the children will be amazed and amused by a host of party performers, including stiltwalkers, aerial acrobats, chocolate fountains, highlights from The Nutcracker, the Christmas ballet, performed by the St Petersburg Ballet and an indoor snowstorm. The evening culminates with the first ever public appearance by the newly crowed X Factor champion.

Plus, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host Chris Tarrant will be live in the studio to surprise a member of the audience and treating them to a Christmas present they will never forget!

Join Phillip on his sleigh for one huge emotional and inspirational ride featuring these and a whole host of other surprises, including Phillip meeting families of the British Armed Forces in studio while we send a special Christmas surprise to their partners and parents serving abroad – Gary Rhodes will cook a special Christmas dinner for 500 troops in Basra, followed by a taped Christmas message from HRH The Prince of Wales, and then a special show given by opera singer Katherine Jenkins and Joe Pasquale. To round the night off back in studio, Westlife join the British Army Big Band with a boys’ choir to swing us into Christmas in style.

Q&A with Phillip Schofield

Q: What would make your ultimate Christmas?

Phillip Schofield: “Without doubt..... snow, so much snow that we were cut off 'till about mid January!”

Q: What’s been your best and worst Christmas present?

Phillip Schofield: “My best was my first car from my mum and dad. My worst... the flu.”

Q: Who decorates the Christmas tree?

Phillip Schofield: “Me, Steph and the girls, it's a real family ..... mess!”

Q: This show is about rewarding exceptional people who have overcome some huge hurdles, what does presenting the show mean to you?

Phillip Schofield: “It's lovely to be on the telly at Christmas, there's something truly magical, and I think we've got some brilliant surprises.”

Q: What do you love most about Christmas?

Phillip Schofield: “Our house is perfect at Christmas, lots of children, fun and games. When they go to bed... I have a great wine cellar waiting to
be raided.”

Q: What is a typical Christmas day for the Schofield family?

Phillip Schofield: “Up early... these days it seems, we wake the children! Pressies, I light the fire, Christmas carols on the CD, bacon sarnies and a cup of tea, and then about 20 people arrive, lunch is started, bubbly is popped, more unwrapping as the various clans arrive. It's long and very leisurely! I hate the fact that Christmas takes so long to arrive and then it's gone in an expensive flash. So we squeeze every bit of pleasure out of it that we can.
