Monday 17th October
It has to be ITV3 at 10pm with the first part of BRIDESHEAD REVISITED must be the highlight of the day.
Earlier on More4 at 9pm CAPTURING THE FRIEDMANS is the new channel's offering.
Andrew Jarecki's Oscar-nominated and Sundance-winning documentary tells the story of the seemingly typical Friedmans; Arnold and Elaine and sons Jesse, Seth and David, an all-American family. But the family's world is changed forever when Arnold and Jesse are accused of multiple counts of child molestation, with Arnold using his home computer-courses as a lure.
Jarecki follows their trial but also uses the family's own exhaustive home footage of their lives to blend together the story, the legal proceedings and the veracity of the charges levelled against father and son in this gripping film.
Tuesday 18th Oct
THE UNTEACHABLES final episode at 9pm is our pick of the day.
It's now four and a half months into the project and the kids are back at school. While there is a noticeable improvement in some cases, for others it's back to square one.
But the experts are not giving up yet. Each child must now face a classroom full of primary school children on their own. The aim is to develop empathy for their teachers and give these challenging pupils some tough responsibility. It's a high risk endeavour.
Wednesday 19th October
Jamie's Great Escape at 8.30pm and a new series of GRAND DESIGNS at 9pm on Channel 4 are our picks for the day. However it is one of those nights when several good programmes clash so it is Video recorder time I guess.
Thursday 20th Oct.
It is the chance of terrestial viewers to view on Channel 4 the excellent launch night documentry (A Very Social Secretary) shown on More4 last week.
Starting with David Blunkett's elevation to the Home Office and ending with his miraculous return to power as Minister for Work and Pensions, A Very Social Secretary traces the rollercoaster story - personal and political - of one of the most remarkable politicians of our time. Doon MacKichan ( Smack the Pony ), Alex Jennings ( Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason ) and Stuart McQuarrie ( Life Begins ) complete the principal cast of this comedy drama with its hilarious observations of high government, party politics and media frenzy. Stranger than fiction but rooted in fact, A Very Social Secretary is the portrayal of a political scandal that spun out of control and straight onto the front pages for press and public scrutiny.
Friday the 21st Oct
BBC1 at 7.30pm Spending Other People's Money takes our fancy.
A free-spending husband gives his penny-pinching wife's money away to strangers and blows her savings upgrading his vehicle. He wants to teach her to live more for the moment, but she finds his lessons hard to handle. Will love win out or will money come between them?
