DRIVING MUM AND DAD MAD

16 July, 2006 by The_Boss

ITV1 Monday 17th July 2006 9:00pm to 10:00pm

Five families who are desperate for help with their troublesome tots take part in Driving Mum And Dad Mad – the programme that takes the parents back to the classroom.

The hit parenting show returns for a second series to sort out the tears and tantrums.

The show’s expert, Claire Halsey, will re-educate the parents and help change the kids’ behaviour for the better. Claire is a world expert with over twenty years of experience working with children and their parents and she will be putting the Triple P parenting project to the test. But the expert won’t actually meet the children. Instead it’s down to the mums and dads to make the changes necessary to create a happy home.

From bedtime disasters to meal-time nightmares, and the dreaded supermarket tantrums, every problem area will be tackled to help make a real change to the families’ lives.

The parents and their troublesome children will go on a journey that will resonate with every mum and dad in the country.

The five-part series tells each family’s story, charting their progress as they attempt to put what they learn on the course into practise at their home.

After four course sessions the families are left to cope on their own at home for the next three weeks – and their only support will be one weekly phone call to expert Claire. In a final session the parents reveal just how they have coped and how much of a difference the course has made to their lives. After the course it may not be all happy families, but there will be remarkable and unexpected – triumphs and a feeling of optimism for the future.

Episode one introduces all five families taking part in Driving Mum And Dad Mad. Jamie Mcloed’s Mother faces up to reality as she sees her son’s terrifying obsession with weapons and knives. He wields them at her and uses X rated language at the age of 7.

Rio Crooks, aged 5, is out of control and his Mother has tried every parenting trick in the book. Meanwhile in Leeds, little brothers Arron, 7, and Bradley, 5, are constantly winding their family up and causing trouble working as a double act.

3-year-old Thomas is a full time job – he climbs all over the house and is very destructive. His parents' relationship is under a lot of strain and older sister Josie, 10, is missing out on attention from her family.

Also in episode one the only girl in the series is introduced – little terror Megan Nash, 3, who causes friction between her parents and her Mother Amanda wishes she could exchange her for a well behaved little boy.

Driving Mum And Dad Mad is made by ITV Productions for ITV1. The series producer is Anoushka Cecil and the executive producer is Michele Carlisle.
