Monday at 9pm on BBC2 Arena: No Direction Home - Bob Dylan Part one of a documentary that charts Bob Dylan's ascent from small-town misfit to voice of a generation. Just seeing today's Dylan reflecting on his past is remarkable. We hear recordings of his first musical efforts, hammering a piano at a school talent contest; he recalls how, having first tried rock 'n' roll, he was smitten by folk music; grizzled Greenwich Village veterans recall the early 1960s scene that launched his career. Second part is shown on following evening.
Tuesday at 9pm on Channel 4 the first of the series The Unteachables. Featuring 16 underachieving and extremely challenging 13-year-olds, who have been labelled as 'disaffected' by the state education system. These apparently 'unteachable' kids are either completely disengaged or are so abusive and disruptive in school that permanent exclusion is inevitable. In this groundbreaking project, four leading teachers try to turnaround these these bottom-of-the-class kids and every teacher's nightmare, and inspire them to become hardworking pupils with a future.
Wednesday Supernanny looks likely to hold onto it's successful position in the ratings war.
Friday at 9.30pm on Channel 4 the first part of Rock School is to be shown.
Wild man of rock Gene Simmons arrives at Christ's Hospital boarding school on an unusual mission: to teach a music class of 13-year-olds how to rock. He's forming a new band and, for the next six weeks, taking ten classically trained music students under his wing.
